Our Issues
Affordability
"If you work a full time job, you shouldn't have to worry whether you can make ends meet next month."
Medicare-for-All
Healthcare is a human right.
We support Medicare-for-All legislation that guarantees comprehensive coverage for every American, including dental, vision, and mental health care. People shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg just to keep their other arm and other leg.
Defining the "Entry Level Job"
"Entry-level" jobs were supposed to be for new workers just trying to get a start in an industry, not excuses for companies to pay poverty wages while requiring decades of experience.
Our campaign supports legislation that explicitly defines what can be labeled as an "entry level" job, including limits on duties, limiting on how much experience employers can require, banning "mandatory overtime" for new workers, and minimum payment range requirements tied to cost of living.
Student Debt Relief
Student loan debt is delaying homeownership, family formation, and small business creation, and crushing the futures of entire generations of students and young adults.
We support meaningful student debt relief, as well as restoration and expansion of student loan forgiveness programs such as SAVE and PSLF.
ATS and AI Hiring Software
Applicant Tracking Systems and unregulated AI hiring tools waste time, lock people out of work, and force job applicants to "game the algorithm" to get hired.
We support regulation and audits of AI hiring systems, including implicit bias audits, as well as worker protections to ensure fair, human-reviewed hiring.
Wages & Workers Rights
If you work full time, you should be able to afford to live. Period.
We support raising the federal minimum wage to a living wage tied to inflation, increased protections for workers who unionize, and cracking down on wage theft and worker misclassification.
Regulating Utility Prices
Staying warm in winter and cool in summer shouldn't be a luxury for the ultra-rich.
We support labeling electricity, heat, and other critical utilities as "public goods" so state and local governments can use their full regulatory powers to fight for everyday people. We also support legislation that regulates what costs utility companies can pass on to consumers and provides greater transparency and oversight in billing costs.
Free College & Trade School
We already spend billions subsidizing corporations and tax breaks at the top.
We support redirecting those priorities to fund tuition-free public college, trade school, and apprenticeship programs so students can build careers without crushing debt.
Ban "Ghost Jobs"
"Ghost jobs" are job postings that companies list with no intent to actually hire anyone within a reasonable amount of time (or even ever!). These jobs mislead investors and waste applicants' time.
We support legislation requiring transparency around hiring timelines, penalties for fake listings, timely updates for applicants in the hiring process, and timely removal of posts for filled positions.
Lowering Drug Costs
Americans pay more for prescription drugs than the rest of the world. Many Americans die because they can't afford their prescriptions. We should be using the weight of Medicare and the federal government to bring costs down for consumers.
Affordable Housing
Housing is a human need, not a speculative asset for banks and the ultra-wealthy.
We support major state and federal investment in social and mixed income housing, stronger tenant protections, zoning reform near transit, rent stabilization and control programs, and limits or outright bans on corporate housing speculation that's driving rents and home prices beyond what families can afford.
AI Job Displacement
AI development is threatening millions of jobs, and corporations are too focused on replacing human productivity instead of enhancing it.
We support regulating the use of AI in the workplace, increasing collective bargaining power of workers, universal basic income (UBI), and prioritizing human employment over AI automation.
Democracy
"I'm worried that if we don't have Democrats in office who will fight like hell, we won't have a democracy in 10 years."
Venezuela
Upholding our own democracy means respecting democracy around the world. We do not support authoritarian leaders like Nicolás Maduro, but the U.S. has no right to invade other countries, kidnap foreign leaders, or seize their resources. Not only do Donald Trump’s actions violate U.S. and international law, but they are simply wrong. Americans are sick and tired of reckless interventions and strongman politics.
Voting Rights
Voting is for everyone, and states shouldn't be allowed to restrict access on a whim.
We support passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and any legislation that protects Americans' constitutional right to vote.
Trans Rights
Trans rights are human rights, plain and simple.
We support passing legislation that specifically and explicitly protects the rights of trans-Americans, particularly surrounding access to gender-affirming care, and legislation that expands Title IX and explicitly states that its provisions and other similar laws apply to people of all genders. We should judge ourselves and our society by how we treat our most vulnerable, and "liberty and justice for all" needs to be for all.
Lobbying Moratorium
We need confidence in our elected officials to do the right thing for the people, not their own interests.
We support a moratorium on lobbying and consulting by former elected officials, their spouses, and their staff for a period of at least two years (preferably more!) after they leave office.
End Gerrymandering
Politicians and political parties shouldn't get to pick who they represent.
We support commissioning non-partisan, independent agencies to redraw congressional districts to better serve communities and the people.
Donations from PACs
We don't accept corporate PAC donations. Period.
We want to see a ban on corporate PACs, strengthen small dollar matching programs, and expand public financing so working people can run for office without selling influence or legislation to wealthy elites.
Uncap the House
The House of Representatives is no longer representative of the people. Congress capped the size of the House at 435 members in 1929. Since then, our population has more than tripled, and the average congressperson represents almost 800,000 Americans. We don't need a constitutional amendment to change this!
We support removing the cap of 435 members and expanding the size of the House so districts are smaller, voices are heard more clearly, representatives share priorities with their entire district, and so our communities have a stronger, more direct voice in Congress.
Citizens United
Our democracy should answer to voters, not donors.
We support overturning Citizens United, implementing public financing of elections, and strengthening voting rights protections nationwide. Democracy only works when everyone has an equal voice.
Israel & Gaza
We should not be sending aid to foreign governments that don't uphold the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness enshrined in our founding documents. We do not support any person, government, or entity that participates in or condones genocide. We believe in human rights, international law, and accountability.
We demand an immediate end to the war in Gaza, investigation and punishment for war crimes, and explanations from all politicians accepting donations from AIPAC and similar organizations. Our allies should be held to the same standards we hold to our enemies and ourselves.
ICE
ICE is an unaccountable agency terrorizing our communities. What they're doing is wrong, we don't support any of their actions, and Americans shouldn't have to worry about a secret police force scooping them off the streets.
ICE should be abolished, and the people perpetrating these crimes need to be fired and held accountable. Mayor Jacob Frey said it best.
Ban Congressional Stock Trading
Insider trading is illegal for a reason.
We support banning all elected officials and their spouses from trading stocks, crypto, and investment assets while elected, and requiring existing assets to be placed in a blind trust until they leave office. Play by the same rules, or don't play.
Investing In Our Future
"If we want our young people to care about their country, we need to show that their country cares about them."
Public Jobs Programs
Anyone who wants a job should be able to get one, regardless of experience or training. We support bringing back New Deal-era programs like the Works Progress Administration to provide well-paid, union jobs to every American who wants one.
Medicare-for-All
Healthcare is a human right. We support Medicare-for-All legislation that guarantees comprehensive coverage for every American, including dental, vision, and mental health care. People shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg just to keep their other arm and other leg.
Universal Pre-K
Early education shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code or your income. We support universal Pre-K funded through a fair tax system, because early investment sets up the foundations for strong education and healthy futures.
Funding Our Schools
Our public schools have been asked to do more with less for decades. We support fully funding public education, increasing federal Title I and special education funding, and making sure money goes into classrooms. Investing in our kids is investing in the future.
