Meet Chris

BOYD-33.jpg

Chris is an educator, musician, and lifelong learner who wants to help build the American Dream we were promised.

WHO IS THIS GUY ANYWAY?

Chris was born and raised in Bellingham, MA to two young parents. Always curious from a young age, he loved to read and learn, with a particular affinity for science, technology, and history. His passion for learning only grew with age. Like many in his generation, he grew up alongside the internet and social media, and the seemingly unlimited access to the collective knowledge of mankind only served to fuel the hunger for learning inside him.

Chris was forced to grow up early, between witnessing the 9/11 attacks live on TV as a first-grader and watching his own family struggle as the 2008 Recession hit. With his parents divorced and his now-single mother working multiple jobs just to support him and his two younger siblings, the harsh realities of the economic collapse hit hard. More than once he can recall his mother going without meals or eating simple bowls of rice just so Chris, his brother, and his sister could get a full meal. His family was kept from ruin on more than one occasion by the love and support of the community, and by crucial public welfare programs like SNAP and free/reduced lunch for public school students. As he went through school he learned about all of the successes of America that came from us lifting each other up and refusing to leave each other behind, which would later inspire him to a life of public service.

A CAREER OF GIVING BACK

Chris eventually discovered a love of music after being introduced to the drums in 5th Grade Band. Music always provided community, whether marching on the field at halftime, sitting in the music wing after school before rehearsal, or meeting his high school sweetheart and future wife Alyssa. His music teachers, in particular his high school Band Director, were some of his biggest role models and inspirations as he started to think about his future. In his senior year of high school, he made the decision to become a music teacher so he could provide that same sense of community, teamwork, and family that helped get him through the hard times to future generations.

Since graduating college, Chris has taught in public schools across Massachusetts, primarily in Title-I districts with students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. His teaching style focuses on equity, access, empowerment, belonging, and making every student a leader. His firm beliefs in servant leadership guide his vision for the what a good leader looks like: someone who exists to serve the people they lead, and someone unafraid to jump into the fight alongside those they serve. He is also an active Union member, and has experience fighting for both his fellow teachers and his students as a Union Representative.

Chris’ experiences as a teacher and advocate have given him firsthand insight into the challenges working families face every day: underfunded schools, rising costs of living, and widening inequities in opportunity and representation. He has dedicated his life to helping young people build a future they can believe in. Now, he’s ready to bring that same commitment to Congress: to restore trust in public service, stand up for educators and working families, and ensure that every community has a voice and a fair chance to succeed.

WHY I'M RUNNING

I’m running for Congress because our government was meant to serve the people, and establishment politicians have stopped doing their jobs. I was raised to believe that democracy is built by ordinary citizens, that our government exists to protect freedom, uplift the vulnerable, and ensure that every person has a fair shot at success. But over the past two decades, I’ve watched corporations, special interests, and career politicians betray those ideals, erode public trust, and bend government to serve their own ends. I have to do this, because if we wait too long it might be too late.

Congress no longer represents the lived experiences of the people it serves. Too many elected officials answer to donors and lobbyists instead of voters. Our current leadership calls itself “pragmatic,” but pragmatism without vision is complacency. Massachusetts has led the way since Lexington and Concord, and deserves a representative who will fight for working families, not one content with a status quo that leaves thousands struggling while accepting millions in donations from corporations and special interests.

My priorities are clear:

  • Rebuild the American economy to put workers first and bring down costs for average Americans like us.

  • Reform campaign finance laws to stop political corruption at its source.

  • Revitalize our education system to focus on building the future of our country.

While I may be the face of this campaign, it isn't about me. This campaign is about all of us, about reclaiming the promise of America, and about the future we want to build together. Our district is full of young people, working families, educators, and community members who understand the urgency of the moment and who know that our future depends on the choices we make right now. Our volunteers will help shape our message, our strategy, and the direction of our campaign. Your ideas and experiences matter, and us younger generations deserve to play a leading role in defining what comes next. For too long, each generation has been told ”You’ll be the ones to fix it.” It’s time to stop passing the buck and step up to fix it now. Together.
